PWD Minister wants separate Directorate for PMGSY

Shillong July 02: In a surprise move today PWD Minister Mr. Sniawbhalang Dhar informed the Media that if the Government could create a separate Department for the PMGSY road work.

While Talking about the road condition in the State he said that, “There is a lot to be done, but due to paucity of fund that is why many roads where left unattended”.

Answering to queries about the Dawki Bridge which is still hanging in the air the Minister said that, “The reason for the Delay due to the contractor who has quoted at the very high price, though the Foundation Stone was laid but the work is yet to be commission”.

About the Simsang Bridge in East Garo Hills which is lying almost 30 years uncompleted, the Minister said that “ He has just took over as PWD Minister three months only he is yet to ascertain what is wrong with the Bridge.

When asked about quotations of rate in the PWD tenders the Minister said that, “It is the Govt norm that the lowest builders will always get the work”. About the escalation of rate in any contract work in the PWD he defended that it is unavoidable, its all depend on the nature of work.

As a Minister he is trying his best to persuade with the Central Govt for a different Schemes and he hope that the Govt of India will accept the proposal send by the State Govt.(SP News)
