PWD minister said that 5 contractor are doing the construction work to Umroi Air Port

Shillong, Oct 10: Five contractors have been engaged for executing the construction of the alternate road to Umroi Airport from Mawlai, PWD (Roads) minister Shiawbhalang Dhar informed the House today. Replying to a question by Embhahlang Syiemlieh of the Opposition during question hour, the minister said the total length of the road is 25.845 kilometers. A total amount of eighteen crore rupees has been sanctioned for the road, he said.

Tabling a written reply to a calling attention notice by Opposition legislator Paul Lyngdoh on a recent tragedy involving a coal mine, Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh informed the House that the matter was sub-judice at present.

The main function of a sub-centre is to provide services in relation to maternal and child health and family welfare, nutrition, immunization, etc. This was stated by health minister AL Hek in the house today in reply to a question by Metbah Lyngdoh of the Opposition. Replying to separate question, deputy chief minister RC Laloo said the amount sanctioned for construction of Greater Mendal Water Supply Scheme is 211.62 lakhs. The scheme was sanctioned in March, 2012, deputy chief minister RC Laloo said in reply to a query by James Sangma of the Opposition.

Minister in charge animal husbandry and veterinary, Deborah Marak informed, “there are four veterinary dispensaries, two veterinary aid centers and three stockman centers under Mawshynrut C&RD Block, minister in charge animal husbandry and veterinary.”

She was replying to a query in this regard posed by Witting Mawsor of the Opposition.

Answering to a separate question, the minister said seventy per cent of the work for the abattoir at Mawiong has been completed. The abattoir is expected to be operational before March, 2014, she said.

The Ri-Bhoi District Administration along with Meghalaya Police approached Assam authorities on 22nd July this year and were able to convince them to return back construction materials meant for kitchen shed of a school at Sabuda village seized by them.

Informing this, chief minister Mukul Sangma said “the same was done in presence of the Church leader who is also secretary of the school.”

Replying during question hour the chief minister said, “since construction of the kitchen shed for the school was sanctioned under the Mid-Day Meal scheme, hence the question of compensation does not arise.”
