Shillong, Sept 02: Don Bosco Media Network, which started from a humble beginning with YouTube channel, has made a sudden leap, when it started its Cable TV. Channel on its first anniversary celebration on Thursday.
The Channel with its religious, social, music, youth programme and academic contents are being telecast via Lelangki Cable Operator for a long stretch for fifteen hours daily.
The celebration of the first anniversary of Don Bosco Media Network was graced by the Provincial of the Salesian Province, Shillong, Father Paul O. Lyngkot, Rector of Salesian Training Centre, Shillong, Fr. Jevan Lakra, Secretary of Salesian Shillong Province, Fr. Daniel Dabitlang Cajee.
Amidst its sober content due to Covid-19 pandemic, the glittering function was held at Don Bosco Youth Centre in Shillong with benediction from the proprietor of Lelangki Cable Network, Andreas N. War, Technician Costingwell Massar and the dedicated team of Don Bosco Media NetWork. The architect of the DBMN is its Director Father Michael Makri with unstinted support extended by the Salesian congregation.
Speaking as Chief Guest at the one-hour long programme, the Provincial of the Salesian Province of Shillong, Father Paul O Lyngkot said God in the beginning of his work sent his only son Jesus Christ, the greatest communicator and no one could compete with him.
“God sent his son to communicate from the Father to humanity and also to communicate to the Father”, Father Lyngkot said, adding that the media platform should provide space for people to communicate with Jesus Christ”.
“Through this media platform we can communicate to Him and Him alone”, Father Lyngkot said, He also said that Jesus wants to communicate to the young people in a special way and they should also communicate Jesus personally.
On the other hand, speaking on the occasion, Father Jivan Lakra said that Christians are all called to preach the Gospel and media plays an important role in evangelization.
The Director of Don Bosco Network, Father Michael Makri while delivering the Welcome Speech, welcomed all who were present on the occasion and briefing the genesis of the DBMN.
