Shillong, March 05: The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) celebrated its 13th Annual Day on 04th March, 2023 at NEIGRIHMS auditorium.
The event commenced with a welcome song performed by the students. The function was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Balram Bhargava, Chief, Cardio-Thoracic Sciences Centre and Head, Department of Cardiology, AIIMS, New Delhi, who was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
In his speech, he stressed upon the importance and significance of 3S i.e., Samvedana (Empathy), Samvad (Communication) and Sparsh (Clinical Touch), during care giving process to all the patients to the newly passed out MBBS Students, MD/MS Post Graduate Residents & MSc. Nursing Students. He also delivered the 13th NEIGRIHMS Annual Day Oration.
Prof. (Dr) Nalin Mehta, Director NEIGRIHMS, highlighted the importance of ethical aspects in medical practice and respect for patient autonomy. He also urged the students to do selfless care needy patients.Prof Animesh Mishra, Registrar, NEIGRIHMS, delivered the welcome address, while the Prof G.K.Medhi, Dean, NEIGRIHMS, talked about the various academic activities at NEIGRIHMS.
During the function, Prof. (Dr.) Balram Bhargava, Chief Guest, awarded the course completion certificates to the MBBS Students (2017 batch), MD/MS Post Graduate Residents, and M.Sc. Nursing Students, along with the award for the ‘Best Outgoing Graduate’was given to Dr.Debabrita Chakraborty.
Apart from that, Best Scientific Publication Award was given to Prof. T. Natung, HoD, Ophthalmology, Dr.PranjalPhukan, Addl. Prof., Radiodiagnosis in Faculty category & to Dr.KalaraginiRajshekhar in Resident Doctors category.
Other awards presented were for the Best Oral Presentation, and Best Poster Presentation during the scientific sessions organized on the occasion of 13th Annual Day of NEIGRIHMS.
The 13thAnnual Day event concluded with a Cultural Program showcasing the diverse culture of the North Eastern India.
