Shillong, April 30: In a poignant display of unity and compassion, the students and staff of MIT University, Shillong organized a peaceful walk titled “March Against Pahalgam Attack in Kashmir” on April 29, 2025, to honour the victims and families affected by the brutal terror attack that occurred in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22, 2025.
The walk, started from the university campus to the neighbouring areas of Mawkasiang and Mawdiangdiang, who came together to mourn the lives lost and express their solidarity with the bereaved. With placards bearing messages of peace, hope, and humanity, participants walked in silence, reflecting on the deep tragedy and the need for collective action against violence.
“To us it was more than a march, it is a voice against terror and a step towards healing”, said the MIT University family. “We walk not only in remembrance but also to show that as a community, we stand for peace, empathy, and resilience.”
The initiative was a call to action for youth to rise above division and advocate for harmony in troubled times. Moments of silence were observed, and messages from students and staff were shared to promote peace and healing.
MIT University, Shillong continues to uphold its commitment to social responsibility and stands united with the nation in these difficult times. The march served as a powerful reminder that humanity must always triumph over hate.
