Training-cum-demonstration on Vermicompost conducted at Sankarigre

Ampati, June 23: A Hands-on Training-cum-Demonstration programme on the preparation of vermicompost was organized on June 23, 2026, at Sankarigre Village for selected beneficiaries under the Organic Manure Scheme 2025–26. The programme was conducted by the District Horticulture Officer, South West Garo Hills, Ampati.

The training aimed to equip beneficiaries with practical knowledge and skills in the scientific production of vermicompost, an eco-friendly organic manure that enhances soil fertility and promotes sustainable agricultural practices.

The session was led by the Deputy Project Director, Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), South West Garo Hills, Ampati, who served as the Resource Person.

Participants were provided with a step-by-step demonstration on the preparation, management, and maintenance of vermicompost units, along with guidance on the effective utilization of organic manure for improved crop productivity.

The programme was attended by the Assistant Director of Horticulture (ADH), Horticulture Development Officer (HDO), Horticulture Inspector (HI), Assistant Horticulture Inspector (AHI), and other officials of the Horticulture Department, South West Garo Hills, Ampati.

Beneficiaries actively participated in the practical demonstration and interacted with the resource person to clarify various aspects of vermicomposting. The programme is expected to encourage the adoption of organic farming practices and contribute to sustainable horticultural development in the district.
