Shillong, March 03: Shillong is hosting the Indian Panorama Film Festival which begin today with cinematic treat to the senses is capturing the interest of people from all over the state.
Collaborating in organising the festival is the Department of Information and Public Relations and the Government of India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting through the Directorate of Film Festivals.
Over 140 participants have already registered for the seminar, to be inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, on promoting Meghalaya as a filming destination. The seminar will be held on Tuesday, the second day over the event, but there is much to look forward to as the festival begins on Monday.
A special exhibition on 100 Years of Indian Cinema will open at the State Convention Centre at 10:45am, celebrating the journey of the nation’s film industry, from its beginnings with the first full length film Raja Harishchandra in 1913.
The exhibition will be opened by the Honourable Mr A.L. Hek, Information and Public Relations Minister, and will be followed by the first of several workshops, led by Mr K Hariharan of the LV Prasad TV and Film Academy on the subject of filmmaking.
The workshops are a major part of the film festival, one of the aims of which is to promote filmmaking in the state. Students and budding filmmakers from all over Meghalaya will be attending to gain extra knowledge and motivation in the various aspects of cinema.(SP News)
