TURA,Feb 21: Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma today launched the Skill Development Programme, a placement linked training programme for Private Security Personnel and also instituted the Cleanest Locality Award Urban & Rural at an impressive gathering at the Social Mobilization, Experimentation and Learning Centre (SMELC) near here. Dr Sangma also launched the Low Power Mesh Net Video Conferencing for tele medicine, an IBDLP and North East Centre for Technology, Application and Reach project at the same venue.
Addressing the gathering Dr Sangma stated that the problem of unemployment led to unprecedented events in the past. He added that the biggest challenge of the North Eastern states is addressing poverty and backwardness which leads to unemployment. It was therefore necessary to upscale the investment in human resources Dr Sangma observed and stated that the Skill Development placement linked training for private security personnel would provide employment besides providing exposure that would have an integrating impact.
Launching the Low Power Mesh Net he said that the various programmes of the state should now be integrated with technology so that the best services are delivered to the people.
Managing Director, Peregrine Guarding, Delhi, Brigadier Rajan Oberoi while elaborating on the features of the placement linked development programme for security personnel in Meghalaya stated that initially 100 selected youth would be trained and later sent to South India to serve as security personnel in various establishments. He stated that the training would be given by Peregrine Guarding, the security arm of the Delhi based Tenon Group which provide security solutions.
Director, NECTAR, Ajay Kumar who also spoke on the occasion shed light on Low Power Mesh Net Systems and its applications in various fields. He informed that the mesh nets would be installed in four PHCs of Garo Hills which will be linked to city hospitals. High resolution video conferencing and transfer of patient’s records will be enabled during the first phase while the second phase will involve training on technical equipments, Kumar added.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi, Southwest Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh, West Garo GHills DRDA Project Director D D Sangma and GHADC Chairman P K Sangma. (SP News)
