Five person where detected of alcohol through BAA

Shillong, March 20: The Shillong Traffic Police will not spare any drunken driving. Since the introduction of the Japanese made device – ‘Hand Held Breath Alcohol Analyzer’ to check drunken driving around five people being booked till date.

Confirming this (Traffic) Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) on Tuesday informed that after the introduction of the Hand Held Breath Alcohol Analyzeron March 06, so far five persons have been booked under the Act.

“Any person found of having an alcohol level exceeding 30 mg per 100 ml of blood detected by a breath analyzer will be booked under the MV act,” Rynjah said adding “The first offence would be imprisonment for a term of 6 months or fine up to Rs 2000 or both, adding on subsequent offence committed within 3 years of the previous offence will be imprisonment which may extend to 2 years or fine up to Rs 3000 or both.”(SP News)
