Shillong, Feb 24: Consequent upon the receipt of a report from the Returning Officer of 24-Pariong-Mawthadraishan District Council Constituency on 22.02.2014 that 2 (two) villages viz: Phyllut and Mawkhan Wahkhwang under 40-Marngor Polling Station comprised within 24-Pariong-Mawthadraishan District Council Constituency were found missing from the Electoral Roll for the ensuing General Election to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, the State Government, with the approval of the Governor, has decided to defer the date of poll in respect of 40-Marngor Polling Station to the 26th February, 2014 (from 07.00 AM to 04.00 PM) to enable the eligible voters from the 2 (two) missing villages to exercise their democratic and constitutional right of franchise along with their counterparts in the Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills Districts.
The Returning Officer has accordingly been advised to recall the polling party assigned to 40-Marngor Polling Station and to cause wide publicity of the deferred date in the area with intimation to the contesting candidates, political parties and the residents of the polling areas comprised within 40-Marngor Polling Station. Further, the Returning Officer has also been advised to proceed with the electoral programme for 40-Marngor Polling Station as follows, 23.02.2014 Publication of the Draft Electoral Roll in respect of voters under Phyllut and Mawkhan Wahkhwang villages and issue of public notice inviting filing of claims and objections. 25.02.2014, Hearing of claims and objections and disposal thereof (upto 03.00 PM)
Final publication of Electoral Roll in respect of Phyllut and Mawkhan Wahkhwang villages. 26.02.2014 will be the polling date of Poll for 40-Marngor Polling Station under 24-Pariong-Mawthadraishan District Council Constituency (07.00 AM to 04.00(PM).(SP News)
