Shillong Nov 15: The rumors’ spread like wild fire that there is not salt in the market, these has lead to the escalation of price in the entire state of Meghalaya particularly in the city capital Shillong.
Speaking to SP News Agency the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills Mr Sanjay Goyal said that the district administration has taken immediate step to stop the rumors’ and has asked the people to please inform the administration if unscrupulous merchant are selling at the higher.
The Deputy Commissioner has sent the magistrate all over the city to fine out the cause of the price escalation. He said that salt is available in the market there is no shortage people should not be panic.
The authority has arrested one merchant from Bara Bazar for selling salt at the abnormal rate the merchant was taken to Lumdiengjri police station. The entire Bara Bazar was seen that people were running to buy salt.
Whole seller at Palton Bazar told SP News Agency that they were surprise to have customer in their mostly looking for salt. They said that there is no shortage of salt in the stock, tomorrow salt will be arriving and the price remain the same.
The SP News Agency received call from various part of the East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills District saying that many shop even in the village were close down today to come to Shillong to buy salt.(SP News)
