Shillong, Dec 05L The police today arrested Andy Sawain 30 years of Chinnapatty Malki, from Dhankheti for assaulting and threatening Constable E. Sohshang of Meghalaya Police at Fire brigade- Motinagar Shillong hee has been remanded to three) days police custody.
On 04/12/2013, a missing report was received at Sadar P.S that 2(two)
boys namely , Bondonnam Kharsyntiew 14 yrs of Raitsamthiah and Pawan Konwar 12 yrs of Lower Lachumiere went missing.
Today their clothes were foundon the banks of UmthumthumRiver, Mawlai. The Fire and Emergency Rescue Team searched under the water and recovered their dead bodies. It is believed that they died of drowning while swimming. However enquiry is still under way to ascertain the facts.
On 04/12/13 at 6:00 Pm, one truck bearing Regn No AS01-DC-6578 carrying scrap items worth Rs. 2, 70,000/- (Rupees two lakhs seventy thousand) only was intercepted between Tyrsad and Weiloi by a group of miscreants. They then abducted the driver Jahangir Hussain and other occupants namely Arun Kumar Jamatia and Monirul Islam and hijacked the truck. They then made demand for Rs 80,000/- from the owner for their
release.
Monirul Islam was also assaulted and Rs 4000/- (Rupees four thousand) was taken from him. The above 3(three) persons were rescued by the Special Cell and the truck was recovered from Umkdait, Nongmynsong. In a late night operation Shemphang Marbaniang of Pohkseh, Shillong, Dilip Bhattacharjee of Rynjah, Shillong , Mukul Banarjee of Pohkseh, Shillong and. Dulit Diengdoh of Umkdait Nongmynsong, Shillong were arrested for their involvement in the crime. Theyhave been remanded to ive days Police custody.(SP News)
