Meghalaya’s Miss Nandini was seclected to represent India at CYP in Australia

Shillong, May 13: In a proud moment for Meghalaya, Ms. Nandini Ishvi O. Sangma has been selected to represent India at the 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP13), scheduled to be held in Sydney, Australia, from July 26 to July 31, 2026.

Nandini will represent the country alongside five other delegates from across India at the prestigious international programme, which brings together young participants aged 18 to 29 from Commonwealth nations for a week-long parliamentary simulation and leadership training exercise.

A student of Political Science at Don Bosco College, Tura, Nandini earned recognition after being adjudged the “Best Speaker” during the first-ever Youth Parliament in Garo Hills.

The programme was sponsored and organised by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in collaboration with Tura Christian College and was held at the District Auditorium, Tura, on March 2–3, 2026.

The Commonwealth Youth Parliament is designed to provide training and exposure to young people aspiring for public office and leadership roles.

The programme focuses on parliamentary procedures, governance, legislative debates, and democratic practices through simulated parliamentary sessions and interactive discussions.
