Shillong, May 15: The Home Department Government of Meghalaya is aware that there are many professionals and students from Meghalaya who are temporarily working or studying in foreign countries in different fields.
At present, the Government does not have any data if such professionals or students who are living abroad, as there is no central data base for reference. In the absence of a central data base of professionals or students.
It was very difficult for the Government to get the proper information on the numbers of residents who were stranded during emergency situations like war, violence, etc in such countries.
Hence, in order to ensure swift action for evacuation of professionals or students it has become necessary to create a central database of professionals or students who are temporarily living abroad which could be referred to, in case of emergency situations for facilitating repatriation and safe return of professionals or students to Meghalaya.
Therefore, in view of the above, the Government of Meghalaya is pleased to notify with immediate effect, that all professionals or students who are planning to go abroad for work or studies or working or studying abroad may furnish all details.
This pertaining to their name, contact details, permanent address in Meghalaya, details of parents or guardians, address in the foreign countries etc, through online mode in meghalayaone.gov.in
This was required in order to facilitate smooth and speedy evacuation or return during the time of emergency crisis. Although not mandatory, professionals or students are encouraged to register and share the above details.
Information furnished by such professionals or students will be kept strictly confidential and not for public viewing and will be referred to only during emergency situations.
