Tura, July 22: The passing out parade of the 5th Basic Training Course for newly recruited non-combatant personnel was held with great enthusiasm at Agillangre Field, Tura on wednesday.
The ceremony began early in the morning with the “Fall In” of contingents, marking the commencement of the parade. Director of Civil Defence and Inspector General, SDRF, Shillong, Shri Merinpole K. Sangma attended the event as the chief guest, who inspected the parade, and was earlier accorded a formal general salute . He also witnessed the Nishan Toli ceremony, which formed an important part of the passing out parade.
During the event, the recruits solemnly took their oath, administered by the Divisional Commandant, Home Guards, Tura Shri P.T. Sangma. This was followed by an impressive march past by the trainees and the presentation of the training report by the District Home Guards Commandant.
A large number of dignitaries, family members and local residents attended the ceremony to celebrate the successful completion of training by the recruits. Special awards were presented to outstanding trainees who excelled in physical training, drill performance and overall conduct during the course.
Addressing the gathering after the award ceremony, Shri Merinpole K. Sangma congratulated the recruits for their dedication and hard work. He highlighted the growing importance of Civil Defence and emphasized that the discipline and values instilled during training would guide the recruits throughout their service. He encouraged them to serve with commitment, integrity and a strong sense of duty..
The ceremony concluded on an inspiring note with the final march past, officially marking the successful completion of the 5th Basic Training Course and the induction of the new recruits into their respective roles in service of the community and the state.
