General Manager of NFR inspects development works at Siliguri

Maligaon, Sept 06: Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), carried out an inspection of the Diesel Loco Shed, Siliguri and Siliguri Station on 05th September 2026.

During the visit, he reviewed major ongoing infrastructure development works, passenger amenity projects and other initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving the overall travel experience of passengers. Senior officials from N.F. Railway Headquarters and Katihar Division accompanied the General Manager during the inspection programme.

At Diesel Loco Shed, Siliguri, the General Manager took stock of the existing infrastructure, locomotive maintenance facilities and various improvement works. He stressed upon the need to maintain high standards of safety, reliability and efficiency in maintenance operations, while ensuring effective utilization of available facilities.

At Siliguri Railway Station, Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava reviewed the progress of various developmental and passenger amenity works and held discussions with the concerned officials on ongoing and future plans.

Several important works are underway at Siliguri, including the redevelopment of the station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The redevelopment works include construction of a new Foot Over Bridge, provision of a PP Shed at Platforms 2&3 and construction of a new station building.

The General Manager also reviewed the progress of doubling works on the Siliguri–Aluabari Road and Siliguri–New Jalpaiguri sections. He emphasized the need to complete all ongoing works within the stipulated timelines, while ensuring high standards of quality, safety and passenger convenience, with a focus on creating modern and passenger-friendly railway infrastructure

As part of the inspection programme, the General Manager also conducted a window-trailing inspection from Kamakhya to New Bongaigaon. During the inspection, he reviewed the condition of tracks, railway infrastructure and newly commissioned works, besides taking stock of ongoing developmental activities along the section.

During the inspection and subsequent review meetings, the General Manager appreciated the dedicated efforts of railway officials and staff in strengthening railway infrastructure and improving operational performance.

He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts for the timely completion of projects, adherence to quality and safety standards and continued focus on providing safe, reliable and efficient railway services across NFR.
