Shillong, April 24: The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) has today reaffirmed its decision to expel Dr Fenella Lyngdoh Nonglait without any condition, clearing all doubts that have clouded many minds in the past.
Speaking to newsmen at the Shillong Press Club here this evening HSPDP Joint Secretary Witting Mawsor said the party has arrived at the decision unanimously after the meeting of the Central Executive Committee held today at Sankerdev Hall.
Citing reasons thereof, HSPDP Joint Secretary Mawsor further reiterated that the decision was arrived at only after a prolonged deliberation and discussion.
“The decision was arrived at by the party as a whole, without any personal grudge,” Mawsor said, adding, “the live telecast, the daily reports on local newspaper bear witness to the fact that Dr Fenella has crossed all norms by not only openly supporting another candidate but at the same time dishonouring the party.”
HSPDP Secretary of Mawthadraishan Constituency Grossper Ryntathiang said that there is a standing order that party members are to support the independent candidate PBM Basaiawmoit only and no other candidates.
“So, what Dr Fenella did was beyond acceptable therefore the resolution was arrived at today to expel her,” Ryntathiang said.
When asked whether the HSPDP supremo Hoping Stone Lyngdoh was unhappy with the decision since Dr Fenella is his niece, Mawsor said, “Obviously, the decision was arrived at with a heavy heart and he (HS Lyngdoh) said that he is happy because the party is of the people and not my own.” (SP News)
