Shillong, March 02: Air Marshal Rajesh Kumar VM has taken over as the Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Eastern Air Command, Shillong on 01 March 2017. He is an alumnus of Mayo College, Ajmer and National Defence Academy and was commissioned in the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Jun 1982 as a Flying Pilot.
He is a Cat ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor, Instrument Rating Instructor and an Air Force Examiner. In addition to various staff appointments at Air HQ, the Air Officer has commanded a front line Fighter Squadron and a front line Fighter base.
He is also a graduate of Air Command and Staff College at Montgomery, Alabama as well as College of Defence Management at Secunderabad. He was the team leader of Air Force Project Monitoring Team for AWACS at Israel. Before his present appointment he was Director IAF PMT, ADA.
For his distinguished service, he was awarded Vayu Sena Medal for Gallantry during Op Parakram. The Air Marshal is married to Mrs. Jaya Kumar and blessed with two sons Samir Kumar & Karan Kumar.
