NFR to facilitate nationwide digital life certificate campaign railway pensioners

Maligaon, Nov 01: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will facilitate the Nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 5.0 from 1st November to 30th November 2026, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), Government of India, and the Railway Board.

The month-long campaign aims to promote digital empowerment and simplify the annual life certificate submission process for railway pensioners and family pensioners, particularly senior citizens and those facing difficulties in travelling to pension-disbursing offices.

As part of the initiative, NFR will facilitate Digital Life Certificate submission through designated camps at identified locations, including zonal and divisional headquarters and other places with a substantial pensioner population.

The Railway will coordinate with pensioners’ associations, banks and other concerned agencies to ensure wider outreach and provide necessary assistance to pensioners.

A key feature of the campaign is the promotion of Aadhaar-based face authentication technology, which enables pensioners to submit their life certificates using compatible Android or iOS smartphones, thereby reducing the need for physical visits to banks and pension offices and minimising waiting time.

Special attention will be given to super-senior citizens aged 80 years and above, as well as sick, infirm and mobility-challenged pensioners. Doorstep assistance will be facilitated for those unable to visit designated camps due to age, illness or physical limitations.

Dedicated personnel will assist pensioners with the digital submission process, while helpdesks and grievance redressal mechanisms will be arranged to address technical difficulties and other related issues. Additional facilities, including medical check-ups for senior citizens, may also be organised at designated camps wherever feasible.

Digital Life Certificate camps will be organised across NFR at Maligaon Headquarters (4th November), Katihar Division Welfare Section/Katihar (3rd November), Railway Institute, Alipurduar (3rd November), DRM Office, Rangiya (6th November), Railway Institute, Lumding (3rd November).
