Shillong, May 10: Six more months was sougth by the state government from the court to submit several papers and score sheets to the High Level Scrutiny Committee (HLSC).

It may be mentioned here CBI report revealed that there was irregularities in the appointment if assistant teachers in Government Lower Primary Schools and it is the HLSC which is probing the irregularities.

In the hearing of the case on Friday, the state government has sought another 6 months from the court  even though the tenure of the HLSC had ended in february 28 stating that they could not procure the documents from the registry of the high court.

“After the tenure of the HLSC had ended in february 28, the government had filed a petition seeking more time to submit the doucments at the same time, to direct the CBI to provide the several papers”, sources said even while mentioning that three months had already gone, yet the government had not been able to procure the documents.

“The excuse given by the government was that they could not procure the documents from the registry of the high court and CBI despite the fact that the government has a battery of legal experts”, sources asserted.

The decision of the high court whether to grant that 6 months to the state government or not will be known on the hearing scheduled to be held on Monday.

Sources informed that the Committee is supposed to complete its inquiry by February 28, as per the Government notification while adding that with this deadline the committee would be able to complete its task only after the elections.

However, the HLSC is bound to seek more time following the non-submission of relevant papers by the state government.(SP News)
