DC of SWGH issued notice for surrender of acquired land for Tura bypass

Ampati, June 6: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA), South West Garo Hills, has issued a notice under Section 3E of the National Highways Act, 1956, directing landowners and other persons in possession of land acquired for the Tura Bypass Project to surrender and deliver possession of the acquired land within 60 days from the date of service or publication of the notice.

The acquired land pertains to the construction of the 2-Lane Tura Bypass Project covering the stretch from Gambagre village (Km 7.410) to Indikgre village (Km 16.620) in South West Garo Hills District.

The notice states that the land has already vested absolutely in the Central Government under Section 3D(2) of the National Highways Act, 1956, free from all encumbrances.

Further, the compensation amount determined under Section 3G of the Act has been approved and deposited with the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition.

Kum. Anendya Raajsshre, IAS, Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA) and Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), South West Garo Hills, has directed all concerned landowners and occupants to hand over possession of the acquired land, including any structures or assets situated thereon, to the Competent Authority or its authorized representatives within the stipulated period.

The notice further cautions that failure to surrender possession within the prescribed timeframe may result in action under Section 3E(2) of the National Highways Act, 1956.

The district administration has appealed to all affected landowners and stakeholders to extend their cooperation for the smooth implementation of the Tura Bypass Project, a key infrastructure initiative of national importance aimed at improving regional connectivity and facilitating socio-economic development in the region.
