Shillong, August 13: The Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) has issued updated and verified information on the Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0, following its statewide launch on August 12, 2026, at Lady Keane College, Shillong.
MACS has clarified that 558 HIV-positive cases were detected among the general population between April and June 2026, while 60 pregnant women tested positive for HIV during the same period.
The Society has requested that the following updated figures be used for future reporting and communication on the campaign, 9,244 People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in Meghalaya, as per the HIV Estimation Report 2025.
MAC will hold 1,026 village-level meetings. To organised 3,000 awareness sessions in schools. 85 awareness sessions in colleges. 30 folk performances and 30 flash mobs. 15,000 households covered through door-to-door awareness activities. 12 special camps in government hospitals and10 pop-up awareness booths across Meghalaya.
MACS urged the media houses to use the updated and verified figures to ensure the consistent and responsible dissemination of information related to HIV and AIDS.
