Shillong, August 18: Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and guides convened the 23rd State Council Meeting at the P J Bazeley Hall, State Headquarters Shillong today the meeting was chair by Shri V K Mantri, IAS Commissioner and Secretary of Education department Government of Meghalaya and also State Chief Commissioner Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides in absence of Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Meghalaya and President, Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides.
The meeting commenced with a heartfelt obituary reference and a moment of silent prayer honouring late Smti. R. V. Suchiang, IAS, former Chief Secretary and former President of the State Association.
The agendas covered several crucial resolutions aimed at advancing the Movement’s objectives, particularly, those focused on the empowerment and development of the youth in the state. During the course of the meeting. the State Chief Commissioner released the annual report for the year 2025 – 26, emphasizing the exceptional commitment of the council numbers to the cause.
In his closing remarks, he expressed gratitude to the council members for their unwavering commitment and further highlighted the necessity of enhancing census and membership among young people within the State.
He called for sustained focus and persistent efforts for all stakeholders to strengthen grassroots initiatives to achieve the vision. The meeting concluded with the National Anthem, a poignant reminder of the unity and shared vision that drives the Movement forward.
