PSU and OMCs maintain uninterrupted fuel supply amid surge in demand

Shillong, May 21: Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) — Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, are continuing round-the-clock operations and enhanced logistics coordination across the country to ensure uninterrupted availability of Petrol (MS), Diesel (HSD) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) amid a sharp rise in fuel demand in several regions.

In recent days, Public Sector OMCs have recorded a notable increase in offtake of petroleum products, driven primarily by seasonal agricultural activities and harvesting operations across multiple states.

The demand has further intensified due to increased migration of retail consumers towards Public Sector Retail Outlets owing to comparatively lower fuel prices, alongside a visible shift of institutional and commercial consumers to retail fuel stations.

Despite the increased demand scenario, Public Sector OMCs continue to maintain seamless supplies through their extensive nationwide network of terminals, depots, cross-country pipelines, LPG bottling plants and retail outlets.

Supply teams, transport fleets, terminal operations and select retail outlets are functioning on a 24×7 basis to ensure timely replenishment and uninterrupted movement of petroleum products across markets.

The OMCs are also maintaining close coordination with State Governments, district administrations and local authorities to facilitate smooth logistics operations and efficient distribution of fuel supplies.

The Oil Industry has reassured consumers that adequate stocks of Petrol, Diesel and LPG are available across the country and that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain stable and uninterrupted supply lines.

Public Sector OMCs are continuously reviewing stock positions and strengthening logistics and distribution planning to efficiently cater to the heightened demand.

Citizens are advised to continue normal purchasing behaviour and avoid unnecessary panic buying. Consumers are also encouraged to rely only on official communications issued by authorised agencies and Oil Marketing Companies for accurate and verified information related to fuel availability.
