Shillong, jan 21: The CSWO strongly objects to the plans of the Government to come out with a mechanism of a ‘tripartite agreement’ with the cement plants and the Government should in fact fine these companies and immediately ban them.
The Government should immediately stop violating the Meghalaya Land Transfer Regulation Act 1971. These Companies have done enough destruction to the areas in Jaintia Hills and have benefitted from the subsidies, while people in those areas are badly affected even health wise. Environment has also been affected.
The Government is acting like land agents selling out land illegally to these companies and scheming policies to legalize the illegalities by these companies. The CSWO also urge the Government to clamp down on illegal coal mining and the dumping of Coal all along the National Highway.
The CSWO is also surprised at the Jaintia Hills district Council allowing the Government to grab Tribal lands and Forests. District Councils should be party less and should also not be represented by an MLA.(SP News)
