Shillong, Nov 08: The Civil Society Women’s Organization(CSWO) president Agnes Kharshiing on Friday was arrested by the East Khasi Hills police for allegedly obstructing an eviction drive conducted by the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) at Umsawli village.
She was remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
According to the East Khasi Hills police, Agnes was arrested in connection with 1. Rynjah PS case number 127(11)13 U/S 506/34 IPC. Complain was made by JCB diver Paulmicky Kharwanniang. 2. Rynjah case no 128(11) U/S 109/186/188/353/332/506/34 IPC , here the complay was made by Banri Lyngdoh, executive Engineer Meghalaya urban Developemnt Authority.
Kharshiing was arrest following an FIR lodged by MUDA authority alleging that she was obstructed an eviction drive conducted at Mawdiangdiang in the New Shillong Township (NST).(SP News)
