Shillong, Nov 04: The festival of light “DIPAWALI” has been celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm at BSF camp Umpling at night on 3 Nov 2013 in presence of Shri Mahendra Singh, PSO and other senior officers. He, while wishing to BSF personnel and their families said, “Festival of light might bring happiness and prosperity to every BSF person” and said “every location of BSF is a mini India itself since it represent personnel from all over India and every festival of India is festival of BSF”.
He also congratulated his personnel and made them proud for their sacrifice for this country. Later it was celebrated by lighting Diya, candles and firing crackers and Phuljharis.
Sweets were also distributed among Jawans and their families. All the BSF personnel who are living far away from their families light candles in BOPs located on the farthermost areas of countries giving a message to all the countrymen that their border are safe and secure in their hands. Dipawali marks the home coming of the Hindu God Lord Ram after the vanquishing the demon king Ravan and symbolizes taking people from darkness to light and victory of ‘Good’ over ‘evil’.(SP News)
