Shillong Oct 30: The Mawlai Town Durbar raised it concerned over the refusal in acceptance of EPIC obtained ion the year 2006-07 by financial institutions particularly banks, so also various mobile outlets and insisted that these EPICS should be renewed.
Recently, President of the Mawlai Town Dorbar S D Khongwir said of late, a substantial number of EPICs holders from Mawlai have him to find out if their EPIC obtained in the year 2006-07 are still valid or not. Accordingly, Khongwir said as per his understanding the EPIC use. Even for the purpose of the elections of 2013, the above EPICs would still be valid, he added.
Meanwhile, Khongwir sought a clarification from the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district as to whether the EPIC is still valid or not. (SP News)
Smti Kharkongor appointed as special observer
Jowai, October 30: The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District has informed that the Government vide letter No. EL.67/2012/14, Dt . 10.10.2012, read with Election Commission of India letter No.23/MEGH/2011 (Roll Observer) dated 1st July 2011 has appointed Smt. L.R Kharkongor IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya as Special Roll Observer for the current Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to 01.01.2013 as qualifying date in West Jaintia Hills District.
