Maligaon, April 17: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is the backbone of Indian Railway’s drive against all illegal/unauthorised activities for ensuring a safe, secured and hassle-free journey experience for its passengers and the RPF in N.F. Railway showed extraordinary performance during the last financial year ending on 31st March 2019.
During 2018-2019, the RPF are Continuing drive against carrying of contraband items, RPF had arrested 59 persons and recovered contraband items worth Rs.8.11 crore.
RPF also detected 117 cases of stolen Railway Property worth Rs.12 lakh. The property were recovered and 182 person were arrested. 58 persons were arrested in 55 cases where railway tickets were procured in un-authorized way through touts.
There 5197 vendors were prosecuted under section 144 of the Railway Act for carrying out business un-authorisedly in railway premises. During this same period, 1189 cases were detected and 1223 person were arrested for illegally stopping the train by pulling alarm chain.
During this period joint drives were undertaken with the Commercial department of N.F. Railway and a total of 99115 passenger were detected to be travelling without or improper ticket and an amount of Rs. 8.58 crore were realised from them.
