Maligaon, August 29: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is carrying out redevelopment works across 91 stations within its network under the prestigious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).
This initiative as part of the Indian Railways’ broader vision to transform the passenger experience, aims to upgrade the infrastructure and amenities at certain enlisted stations under the redevelopment scheme, ensuring a modern and comfortable environment for railway passengers.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is designed to enhance the overall experience of passengers by modernizing station buildings, improving access, and providing state-of-the-art facilities.
Kamakhya, Rangiya, Rangapara North, Dhubri, Lumding, New Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Diphu, Barsoi, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, New Alipurduar, Rangpo, Agartala, Udaipur, Mendipathar, Dimapur, Naharlagun etc.
They are few of the stations along with others, among the 91 stations under ABSS for NFR where the transformation works are going on in an expeditious manner so as to achieve highest standards of quality infrastructural works within stipulated timelines.
Some of the ongoing works includes construction of FOB’sfor easy connectivity and accessibility, development of station’s circulating areas, additional covered passengers parking sheds for both two and four wheelers,modern toilets for common &Divyangjan passengers, shop complexes, improved waiting areas, spacious areas with advance ticketing systems etc.
At stations like New Mal Junction, Kokrajhar, Fakiragram, Hasimara, Dhubri, Gossaigaon Hat, Gauripur, Dhupguri, Dinhata, Dalgaon, Binnaguri, Jalpaiguri Road, Kamakhyaguri, Lanka, Hojai, Chaparmukh etc.
Infact, all the 91 stations under NFR will be provided with such facilities along with other amenitiesincluding the installation of CCTV cameras, better lighting, and improved crowd management systems to provide a safer environment.
Even sustainability with energy-efficient lighting, rainwater harvesting systems and the use of eco-friendly materials will be its key motto. Facilities with better parking areas with an upgraded station façade, with beautified local art and culture, reflecting the rich heritage of the region will also be done creating a welcoming atmosphere for railway passengers.
