Shillong, February 23: The Shillong All Faiths Forum (SAFF) has reaffirmed its commitment to combating the rising drug problem in the state. During a weekend meeting at Umshyrpi College, the forum elected its new office bearers for the term, with Bishop P. Lyngdoh as President and Mr. Noor Nongrum as General Secretary.
The meeting also saw members extend their appreciation to the Social Welfare Department and Minister for their collaborative efforts with faith leaders in addressing substance abuse. SAFF expressed confidence in the government’s Project DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation, Elimination, and Action Mission) under Mission Director Francis G. Kharshiing and pledged full support in tackling social evils.
The forum has urged its members and affiliated units to actively seek government assistance in organizing awareness and rehabilitation programs. Institutions and congregations have been encouraged to collaborate with experts and utilize available resources to strengthen anti-drug initiatives.
SAFF assured its guidance and participation in these efforts, emphasizing the need for a collective approach to curb the drug menace in society.
