Shillong, Dec 09: Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee working president Deborah Ch Marak said the party should learn from this debacle.
Admitting defeat in the recently concluded Assembly election in four states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Marak said “In these big four states we have done very badly, we accept the defeat. It happens in politics, maybe there are reasons.”
She also said, “As per as Rajasthan is concern this quickly anti-incumbency matter comes back, earlier on it was BJP Govt but it lost election and now Congress lost in rajasthan, after all it is Politics and it has all ups and downs.”
Asserting that overconfidence was one of the reasons for the Congress Debacle, Marak appreciated BJP for doing homework and said Congress has not done much rallies.
“if you speaks about over confidence may be this is one of the reason,” Marak asserted.
She said adding, “The number of campaign the BJP leaders have done is appreciable and also number of campaign congress has done is very less so they have done lots of homework compare to Congress, may be over confidence is one of the reason and now they may start doing their homework.”
Stating that Congress should learn from this loss, Marak said, “Congress should learn from this debacle and it deserve warning signal for all the Congress leaders and this is not a good sign for all of us whether it is a state leader of central leader. They should work very hard and find out the loopholes which led to this debacle where we have to correct ourselves we have big election before us. “
Marak also stated that the party now needs to revamp its policies and programmes before the upcoming Lok Sabha election; even she maintains that party was not able to connect to the common people.
Marak’s reaction came in wake of the recent declared Assembly election results in the four states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Delhi where Congress suffer a massive defeat as they go down 0-4 to BJP.
The Congress retained power in Mizoram for the second consecutive time, winning 22 of the 40 seats as the vote count progressed on Monday.
However, the party faced a serious debacle in the big states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Delhi.(SP News)
