Shillong, Dec 17: It was a moment of joy, it was a moment of celebration for the street children in Shillong as they celebrate Pre Christmas with a difference.
They cut the cake; they sang songs and made wishes for the Christmas.
With a dream of better like in their eyes, these children prayed to GOD as their celebration began.
The street children who are deprived of celebrating any festival in a grand way due to their poverty today got an opportunity to celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ in a befitting manner.
A lunch party for the street children was organised at St Jerome School today by the Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek in presence of his family members and other well wishers.
Around one hundred street children also participated in the pre-Christmas celebration as they were given meal and cakes on the occasion.
The event also marked the birthday of the son of the minister and homeless children wished the son of the minister with “Happy Birthday.”
Speaking at the gathering, Alexander Hek extended his best wishes to the children on the occasion of Christmas and urged them to live an honest and dutiful life. Hek also distributed blankets to Mother Teresa Home and to St Jerome School where the function was organised.
The celebration aimed at making the street children who may not have food and clothes, feel loved and cared for. (SP News)
