MBOSE issues notification for SSLC private candidates, applications now open

Shillong, May 20: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) has issued a notification inviting applications from eligible Private Candidates for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination.

This initiative is aimed at strengthening inclusive education by providing a second opportunity to learners who, due to various personal or socio-economic reasons, were unable to complete their formal schooling. It enables such candidates to re-enter the education system and complete their secondary education qualification.

As per the latest UDISE data, the State has an estimated 8.40 lakh dropouts, highlighting the urgent need to expand flexible learning and examination pathways. In this context, the provision for Private Candidates is a significant step towards ensuring that education remains accessible to all.

The Board has further clarified that there will be no upper age limit for Private Candidates applying for the SSLC Examination, thereby opening the opportunity to learners across age groups who wish to complete their schooling certification.

Interested candidates may also apply through their nearest designated centers, making the application process more accessible and convenient.

Eligible candidates are advised to carefully go through the official notification, including eligibility criteria, required documents, fee structure, and submission procedures, and complete their application within the stipulated timeline.

MBOSE reiterates its commitment to ensuring equitable access to education and reaffirming that formal certification pathways remain open and inclusive for all learners.

Stakeholders, schools, and community members are requested to widely circulate this notification to ensure maximum awareness and participation.
