Pangin,June 02: A public awareness and community engagement programme focusing on avocado farming, horticulture techniques, and the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) was successfully conducted in Pangin Village, Arunachal Pradesh.
The targeted outreach initiative aimed to promote scientific horticulture practices while strengthening community understanding regarding the developmental significance of SUMP in the region.
The grassroots awareness drive, which commenced in Pangin on May 27, focused on encouraging sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing awareness regarding the long-term developmental benefits associated with SUMP.
The programme witnessed active participation from villagers and households, who attended the sessions and engaged in discussions related to farming opportunities, infrastructure development, regional progress, and community welfare.
The programme was held in the presence of Chief Guest Ms. Leniya Pertin, Horticulture Development Officer (HDO), Boleng, Siang District.
During the session, she shared valuable insights on advanced avocado cultivation methods, scientific horticulture practices, and sustainable farming techniques aimed at improving agricultural productivity and livelihood opportunities for local farmers.
She also emphasized the importance of adopting modern agricultural methods to strengthen long-term rural development and economic sustainability.
The event was also attended by Mr. Oyar Gao, Senior Public Leader; Tatop Panor, Youth Leader. Their presence encouraged active interaction and meaningful participation among the villagers throughout the programme.
The organising team further facilitated open interaction sessions that allowed community members to directly raise queries and share their local perspectives regarding horticulture development and the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project.
More than 25 participants actively took part in the programme, engaging in meaningful discussions on avocado farming techniques, crop management practices, infrastructure development, and community welfare.
Following the interactive sessions, comprehensive SUMP information booklets were distributed among the villagers by the respective Chief Guests to promote transparent communication and strengthen public understanding of the initiative.
By encouraging direct dialogue between technical experts, local leadership, and residents, the programme successfully strengthened awareness and informed participation regarding both sustainable horticulture practices and the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project in the Pangin region.
The initiative also played an important role in promoting community engagement, improving awareness on modern agricultural opportunities, and fostering a better understanding of the project’s long-term developmental objectives.
