Chief Justice of Meghalaya and chancellor visited the National Law University

Shillong, July 8: The National Law University of Meghalaya celebrated its 3rd Foundation Day  with the gracious presence of Hon’ble Justice Revati Mohite Dere, Chief Justice of the High Court of  Meghalaya and Chancellor of The National Law University of Meghalaya.

The celebrations  commenced with the inauguration of the University’s New Moot Court Room by Justice Revati  Mohite Dere, followed by a Ceremonial Tree Plantation to commemorate the occasion.

The formal programme, held at the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium,  commenced with the Welcome Address delivered by Smti. Kerpa Meida Lyngdoh Nongbri,  Vice-Chancellor In-charge, National Law University Meghalaya.

This was followed by the screening  of the University’s Institutional Video, highlighting its vision, academic initiatives, achievements, and  institutional development followed by a presentation by Mr. Rishan Veban Diengdoh, Assistant  Director of Sports on the Student House System and also witnessed the official launch of the same by the Chancellor.

In her Special Address, Hon’ble Justice Revati Mohite Dere encouraged  students to view the study of law as a lifelong journey of learning, emphasising that there is no substitute  for hard work, perseverance, and continuous self-improvement in the legal profession.

She advised students to gain practical exposure through internships with district court practitioners, prosecutors,  defence lawyers, and non-governmental organisations to develop a deeper understanding of the justice  delivery system and the realities at the grassroots level.

She also urged aspiring legal professionals to  remain open to new perspectives and to pursue their careers with integrity, dedication, and a  commitment to serving society. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Prof. (Dr.)  Baharul Islam, Registrar.

The visit of Hon’ble the Chief Justice and Chancellor marked a significant milestone  in the University’s continued pursuit of excellence in legal education and institutional development.
