Ampati, July 12: The MLA of the 54-Mahendraganj (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency, Shri Sanjay A. Sangma, today visited Balughat village in South West Garo Hills district, which has been severely affected by landslides triggered by incessant monsoon rains.
The MLA met with the affected families, assessed the extent of the damage, and assured them of all possible support. He also extended financial assistance to the victims as immediate relief to help them cope with the aftermath of the natural calamity.
Although no loss of human life has been reported, the landslides have caused extensive damage to agricultural crops, affecting the livelihoods of several families in the area.
Shri Sangma expressed concern over the situation and urged residents to remain cautious during the ongoing monsoon season. He also assured that the concerns of the affected families would be taken up with the concerned authorities to facilitate further assistance and rehabilitation measures.
