Shillong, Feb 7: A day after the filling of nomination papers by candidates from various political parties including independent candidates concluded scrutiny of papers was conducted at the office of the returning officer on Thursday.
The scrutiny of papers was carried out by the returning officer for 67 candidates in East Khasi HIlls district those who had filed their nomination papers for the ensuing assembly polls slated for February 23.
Scrutinising of papers by the Returning officer (RO) also means to cross check the validity of papers filed by the candidates during the filing of nomination papers. Once there is no objection regards with to the validity of papers filed by the candidate it means they can contest the election.
A sign of in relief can be seen in the faces of candidates after they were done with the scrutinising process as they have confident that they can field in this coming assembly election. (SP News)
