Shillong,Feb 20:Three days to go for the ensuing state legislative assembly polls 2013 in the state.As the day of the poll draws near enlightenment in the spirit of the people can be seen as every where stories about election can be heard.

Not only this,Streets and corners in and around the city were filled with party flags hanging in line on a threat which was tied from one end of the road to another end.Besides party flags were also seen fluttering from roof tops and this has bring in a kind of festive look.

Adding to all this vehicles with loud speakers running down the streets playing different political party songs add more to the election mood of the people.

As the day of the poll draws near, there is an increase in the number and ways of political campaigning with the candidates putting in everything legally to woo voters besides influencing people to support them.

Campaigning in the form of car rallies and procession has always been a means of winning support by a candidate.Housewives, students and children’s are the one’s making most out of the political campaign in terms of merrymaking by boarding the campaigning vehicles taking time off from their monotonous schedule and rolling around town with friends dancing and cheering.

“I like election times. It is full of fun.” said I Marbaniang

Convoy of campaigning vehicles filled the streets of Shillong city and louder got the slogans and vote appeal as the convoy of the various political party’s rolled through rival localities.

“Campaigning involves a lot of fun, from dance and music to food,” opined Alex Ryntathiang laughing. He further added that he enjoys the rallying part the most.(SP News)
