Unemployed Grade IV, candidates has threaten to stage a hunger strike on April 9.

Shillong, April 5: Irked over the adamant nature of the government for not responding to the demands of the qualified but unemployed Grade IV, candidates of the East Khasi Hills District, the association has threaten to stage a hunger strike on April 9.

Informing reporters here on Friday, Asst. General of the Association of Qualified Grade-IV-2011, East Khasi Hills District, T Mylliemngap said that the hunger strike will be observed in order to force the government to respond to the demands put up by the association and that is to appoint all the qualified candidates in the grade IV post.

The Grade IV candidates who qualified at the examination conducted by the District Selection Committee last year have been denied appointment letter from the government citing reasons that all vacancies have been occupied by those candidates based on merits besides it was also told that their duration was lapse.

The hunger strike will be held at Student’s field Jaiaw from 10 am.

It may be recalled that the candidates have staged a protest at the beginning of this year have staged an agitation demanding that the government should appoint all the merit list candidates which altogether consisted of 209 candidates.(SP News)
