Shillong, Sept 14: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K. Sangma today inaugurated the new building and the Higher Secondary Section of St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Pynthorumkhrah, Shillong in the present of Shri Lahkmen Rymbui, Minister for Education, Shri A. L. Hek, Minister for Health and Family Welfare who is also the local MLA, Shri James Ban Basaiawmoit, local MDC, Rev. Dr. Fr. Ioannis War Pakma, Parish Priest and Secretary Managing Committee of the School, Rev. Dr. Fr. A. L. Jose, SDB, Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Sr. Selinda Wanniang, Principal, St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, teachers and students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma said that the primary objective of education is to transform the lives of students and to make them more responsible and good citizen of the country and said “education is the passport for the future of our young generations.”
The Chief Minister also reminded that to passed out from schools and colleges and get degrees is not enough adding that what is more important at the end of the day is the kind of human beings we are and said that humility, commitment, discipline are the qualities that academicians and educationists aspired to instill in the mind of the students.
