Shillong, Oct 06: The Border security Force (BSF) posted at the BOP, Shella in East Khasi Hills on Friday night at 7.30 Pm managed to foil attempts of arms smuggler from India to Bangladesh.
The BSF got information about concentration of few Arms smuggler who were there to deliver Arms to their associates in Bangladesh through some unknown cattle smugglers.
After getting the information the BSF party tried to encircle the area in order to apprehend these unknown miscreants but they managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness and thick forest.
While searching the area the BSF recovered , Country made 12 bore single barrel Gun 05 Nos. Cartridge 03 Nos. EFC 03 Nos.Cattle heads 05 Nos. mobile 01 No. SIM cards 02 Nos.Torch light light 04 Nos.Knife 02 Nos.
The BSF said that as per the information, this unknown group generally is active in extortion cases. Efforts are being made to establish identity of these unknown miscreants.
In view of forthcoming General Election in Bangladesh, there are likely chances of smuggling of Arms from India to Bangladesh in coming days. Mr Lalatendu Mohanti, IPS, Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier has already sensitized all border deployed battalions to be more alert to foil such attempts of Arms smuggling from India to Bangladesh.
