Shillong, June : For students of CMJ university the brunt from the irregularities seems unending.
Despite facing several problems for the past one month becuase of the irregularities within the CMJ University, the students now had even to face discrimination in their hostels, cyber cafes and other places.
It was learnt that outstation students have complained that they were asked to evacuate the hostel on grounds that they are no longer students while some of them were chased out from the cyber café as their university IDs were discarded on the same ground.
The Khasi Student’s Union (KSU) a student union which is at the fore front to take the initiative of finding an immediate solution to their problems while reacting strongly against such discrimination have issued a warning to owners of such hostels and cyber cafes asking them to treat the students of CMJ equally while stating that they have no right to chase the students away for the matter is yet to be resolved.
“Talks are still going on with the state government and the matter is still pending and so the students should be treated badly as this is no fault of theirs’ but of the university,” KSU education secretary Donald Thabah said adding that if similar complaints are received from the students, actions will be taken against the erring hostels’ owners and cyber cafes’ owners.
Besides, Thabah also informed that the union had submitted an appointment letter to the Governor RS Mooshahary seeking his time to deliberate on the matter and plight of the student
Meanwhile, Thabah informed that the Governor have given his assurance that they will met today with the governor.(SP News)
