Shillong, March 01: The AYWO condemns the incident in which KSU was attacked by Non Tribals and the cold blooded murder of our dear Comrade from KSU, Martyr Lurshai Hynniewta, in Ichamati of East Khasi Hills District. AYWO extends our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and to the KSU family as well.
The AYWO urged the Meghalaya Government to arrest all people who were seen in the Video and if needed be combed the area where these murderers’ were living. Its need justice and will stand in Solidarity with KSU.
This murderous attack on peaceful activist of KSU in Ichamati while demanding ILP is worrisome and wonder if the organised and well established KSU can be attacked to the magnitude of like this, how can we expect better for the laymen.
The AYWO also would like to request our Garo Brethrens from Shella and Sohra region to be firm and stand with our Khasi Brothers in our fight against Bangladeshis and subsequently they also would like to urge our Khasi Brothers’ to fight in unison and asking them not to use force against our people.
The AYWO also condemns and express our anguish over the episode in which three local youths were thrashed by the Non Tribals in Garobadha on 28th of February 2020. It was after the intervention of local leaders and youths of the area, the Police released the trio. The AYWO said that every now and then, they witnessed the multiple incidents in which non tribal were taking the law into their own hands.
In view of these impending threats, AYWO urged all the tribal Citizens of Garo Hills not to give outsiders’ a place to stay and work. Engage local masons and labourers’. Register your labour or else push them back and if the state government is having a problem with the management of manpower to deal with influx, empower AYWO will detect, said Mr Alexander Sangma Assistant general secretary of AYWO in the press statement.
