Shillong, June 12: Shillong the capital of state is the hub and a main location for various activities be it education, trade and commerce, business transaction, transportation and many other things.
With years and with the ever growing number of population this place is being cramped up with people besides that with vehicles plying up and down the streets especially in busy market areas of Motphran and Police Bazar.
Setting up of make shift market stand especially along the stretch of motphran junction where even along side of the memorial tomb erected at motphran junction and even along the pavements and footpaths has created lots of problems to passengers and it becomes very difficult for them to just even step their feet.
Time and again eviction drive was carried out to keep a check on commuters not to perform bussiness along the roadside but the fact remain that does eviction drives lasted just for a day.
A concerned citizen while talking to this scribe asked the MUDA official if they have ever conducted any eviction drives at Motphran on the eviction drives end just before reaching this area.
If the commuters are occupying the spaces required by the commercial vehicle to take their turn then from where will those buses and commercial vehicles make their turning.
She even pointed that what if someday some ill incident happen to either the passengers, pedestrians and those shop keepers whereby somebody will be run over by the vehicle who will take the blame.
Therefore she urged upon the MUDA to see into the matter and expedite steps before sad things happen. (SP News)
