Shillong, May 22: The fight against COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over, Border Security Force, Meghalaya is putting up all out efforts in assisting the civil population residing along the International Border in the State of Meghalaya to sustain during this crisis.
Again in one such effort, on 20th May 2020, DIG PRO BSF, Meghalaya Frontier in presence of DIG SHQ Shillong, Comdt, 11 Bn BSF and other Official in coordination with the civil organization and NGOs distributed essential items to 250 families from villages of Rajagoan East, Rajagoan West, Barmanbari, Dholai Bhowal, Pynpenborsora, Dangar Dop under East Khasi Hills.
The occasion displayed an emotional bondage between BSF and the local population, where in the villagers expressed their gratitude to BSF for the timely assistance through civil societies.
The relief materials included Rice, dal, m/oil, salt, biscuits, vegetables and sanitizing items like face mask, hand sanitizer, hand wash and medicine.
There were speculations and fears in these border villagers after positive cases were reported on Bangladesh side very close to the International Boundary, hence BSF apprised the Village headmen to co-operate and identify those persons facilitating smuggling in the area.
Mr U K Nayal, DIG PRO BSF Meghalaya reiterated that BSF troops are working in close coordination with the village defence party and volunteers to thwart any attempt of infiltration.
