Shillong, May 24: The 13 NDRF Battalion of Assam Rifles was raised on 01 Sep 2019 at Udaipur, Tripura. Consequent to its raising the unit moved to Ladhowal of Ludhiana in Punjab with its companies undergoing training for disaster management at different locations across the country.
One of the companies of 13 NDRF Battalion, Assam Rifles is located in Kolkata for training. Sincerity in the training was displayed by all ranks of the unit from the first day itself, least realizing that they will be tested so soon.
Accurate alert systems meant that 41 teams of NDRF with about 40 members in each had to spread out to various parts of West Bengal and Odisha after the Indian Meteorological Department alerted for Cyclone Amphan.
The 2x teams of D Company of 13th NDRF Battalion have been launched for rescue Operations in general area Rajarhat near Kolkata. Armed with the information, these teams went around the affected areas and carried out the disaster management by evacuating endangered people and cutting uprooted trees for restoration of road communication.
Rescue operations are still on and troops of NDRF Battalion are responding to the call of duty with diligence and maturity. The newly raised NDRF Battalion has once again proved why Assam Rifles is the most trusted Force of the Nation.
