Shillong, July 13: The Border Security Force, in its continued efforts to protect and preserve the environment besides battling the COVID-19 pandemic, the Border Security Force Meghalaya carried out a special plantation drive on 12th July 2020 under the overall direction of Mr. Kuldeep Saini, Inspector General, BSF Meghalaya Frontier.
The BSF has conducted this drive to educate and motivate its manpower as well as to inculcate a feeling of contributing something to the “Mother Earth” and to turn BSF campuses greener for a better environment.
Tree plantation drive combats many environmental issues like soil erosion, desertification, carbon sinking, global warming and hence enhancing the beauty and balance of the environment.
During this campaign, more than 10,000 saplings of various species are planted by BSF troops of Meghalaya Ftr, even BOPs in the border areas came under the ambit of this drive. All the precautionary measures against COVID-19 are being followed during the drive.
“Border Security Force Meghalaya Frontier will organize more such initiatives in near future and keep on trying to turn the BSF campus into an utopian place to live in” said Shri U K Nayal, DIG and PRO.
