The Consortium of International Minds take up step to clean Guwahati

Members of CIM remove idols to clean up guwahatiGuwahahti, June 27:  It is said that cleanliness is next to goodliness, and there has been a lot of awareness camps, programs and lectures about cleanliness and also being environment friendly, keeping the locality and the city clean. However, cleanliness is most of the time seems to be confined to our four wall boundaries in the cities.

Though known that it is the duty and responsibility of the elders to show the younger’s about keeping our city clean and using dustbin in public places, in practical things does not take shape, may be not because of lack of awareness but lack of interest and responsibility shown by elders.

Many a time one can see a hand popping out of a luxurious car window and  empty bottle, a Chips Packet or a teen beer being casually thrown on the roadside. Keeping all these things in mind an NGO called Consortium of International Minds (CIM), has come up with a unique step to try their hands to at making Guwahati city a little better by collecting the thrown away idols on the road sides after rituals are being performed, which is one of the very common phenomena in many cities including Guwahati.

The NGO has is all set to move in the nook and corners of the city to find such abandoned idols and collect it to dispose properly and thus contributing to cleaning the city of Guwahati.
Tinat Atifa Masood, a women member of the NGO says “somewhere we individuals have to take responsibility, I see kids throwing papers and other things out the school bus window, I just wonder what this so called standard schools and their elite parents teach to their kids”. She adds “It hurts me when I have learned that Guwahati is one of the dirtiest cities in the country, we all individuals need to think of this city, this state and of course about this country to keep it clean”

It is a difficult country perhaps though not impossible, high profile actors like Amir Khan add on Tv regarding cleanliness, promoted by Tourism Ministry may find it tough to catch the imagination of the people and change their mindsets all of a sudden, but yes, with responsibility and efforts and from every individual can change things for better and better with the passage of time.
