Maligaon, March 17: The Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to run kisan rail train from falakata to dimapur for transportation of potatoes on 20-03-2021 for the benefit of the farmers and transporters of the northeastern region.
The kisan rail no. 00555 Falakata – Dimapur will run from Falakata at 19-00 hrs on 20-03-2021 to reach dimapur at 10-00 hrs on 21-03-2021. The train will arrive at new Bongaigaon at 01-00 hrs and Guwahati at 05-00 hrs on 21-03-2021 having stoppage for 30 minutes at each station for loading/unloading of goods.
It may be mentioned here that as per the announcement made in the union budget 2020-21, indian railways has started running kisan rail train services, to transport perishables and agri-product, including milk, meat and fish.
The first kisan rail train was flagged-off on 07.08.2020 between Devlali Maharastra and Danapur, Bihar. these kisan rail trains are run on time-tabled paths, and their punctuality is strictly being monitored to avoid any en-route detentions and delays.
Kisan rails are multi-commodity, multi-consignor/consignee, multi-loading or unloading transportation solution which is aimed at providing wider market to our kisans, commodities which may be transported via kisan rail are tea, rubber, turmeric.
The black pepper, mustard, soyabin, betel nut, oranges, pineapple, ginger, kiwi, passion fruit, chillies (green), large cardamom and other fruits & vegetables. a subsidy of 50% is being granted on the transportation of fruits and vegetables via kisan rail.
The primary objective of running kisan rail trains is to increase the income in farm sector by connecting production centres to markets and consumption centres. it is expected that with the operation of this kisan rail, consignors or farmers will get benefitted.
